Great fucking cast
Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Frances McDormand, Peter Dinklage
Nothing much to say about Harrelson, his work speaks for itself. Please go to his IMDB page and marvel at what a phenomenal actor he is. I hope more people realize that any movie with him is appointment TV. It looks like here we are getting a mix of the True Det. Season 1 Harrelson and the Zombieland Harrelson. Could be really fun to see.
Frances McDormand is so underrated and brings the heat in every role. Seriously, I don’t know one movie where she doesn’t bring some sort of great/funny acting performance. Her comedic timing and line delivery is always great. She seems underrated, look at what she’s been in: Raising Arizona, Fargo, Burn After Reading, Moonrise Kingdom, and now this.
Sam Rockwell is one of my favorite actors. His comedic delivery is phenomenal and it looks like it will be great in this movie. He looks to be playing a supporting role, which he has excelled at in the past. He was great in Matchstick Men, Iron Man 2, The Way Way Back, and pretty much everything he has ever been in. He is hilariously glib in all of his movies so look for that in this one.
Peter Drinklage, well known for Game of Thrones (where he is phenomenal), is starting to get back into the movie game. Obviously he was great in X-Men and Elf but what he really was great in was the English version of Death at a Funeral. It is really funny and carries a similar tone to movies like In Bruges, though not that depressing of a backdrop.
Dry Humor: Martin McDonagh is the writer/director for this film and after looking at his IMDB page two films jump off the page: Seven Psychopaths and In Bruges. Both movies are funny with the backdrop of sadness, and I think we’ll see that with Three Billboards… All of McDonagh’s movies have a dark/sad/funny tone and I would guess Three Billboards will be no different.
The dry and dark humor is going to be fucking awesome in this. I really hope people go see this movie in theaters as original/funny movies need box office support. We need less superhero action and more intelligent funny writing in movies. McDonagh is an up and coming writer/director star and I really hope he gets more work. Hell, if I had $100MM I would say ” here this should last you about 5 movies, do your thing and give me a call when the first one is done”
So YA I am definitely seeing this movie.
P.S Shoutout for John Hawkes, funny funny actor who can deliver dry humor with the best of them.
